About Jim Steiner

On and off the job, Jim Steiner has devoted his energies to serving the people of Corona – and bringing them together – for more than three decades.

A committed professional. A 31-year veteran of the Corona Fire Department, Jim dedicated himself to protecting our families and our neighborhoods. As a fire captain for most of his career, Jim was responsible for guiding life-and-death decisions on the front lines in every manner of emergency situation. He was twice recognized as Corona Fire Department’s “Firefighter of the Year”, in 2003 and 2010.

A caring leader. For Jim Steiner, public service is a 24/7 proposition. As a leader in the fire department, Jim helped build a “culture of giving” that produced an outpouring of charitable giving and community involvement. His commitment – particularly to young children suffering from cancer – was recognized in 2011 with the Ira Calvert Distinguished Service Award, the 2013 UNITY Award for Community Service and the 2015 Corona-Norco Champion of Young Children Award. For his service within, and outside, the fire department, Jim was recognized in 2014 as the Corona Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year" and in 2016, the "Father of the Year" by the American Diabetes Association.

A problem solver. As a fire captain, Jim was responsible for solving problems when seconds count. As president of the Corona Firefighters Association, Jim built a legacy of cooperation between firefighters and the leadership within the department and the city. His long experience working within City Hall helped build a collaborative model focused on finding common ground, protecting public safety and the taxpayers.

A part of our community. Jim and his wife Beth have lived in Corona, and District 4, for 34 years. Their three children – Sarah, Brandon and Brooke – were raised here, and Jim could be found coaching their teams and cheering their successes.
